Argillite Shaman

SOLD This Shaman argillite sculpture is carved by Tim Boyko, from the Haida Nation. The shaman is holding a talking stick in his right hand and a rattle in his left hand. The talking stick features a human, a bear and a noble women. The rattle has a human face carved on it. The shaman has a frog carved on his head and crests or tatoos (frog, eagle, raven with moon and salmon) on his body. The handle of the talking stick, the rattle as well as the nose piercing are made of old ivory. The sculpture is about 5 inches high X 4 1/2 inches wide X 3 1/2 inches thick.
