This Bear Mother Story hand carved Argillite Box by the Haida Artist Greg White Lightbown, has three carved bears and one carved human on the sides, as well as a supernatural bear and human carving on the top and 4 frogs carved and attached to the base. There are 12 catlinite or pipe stone inlays in the eyes of the bears and humans. The box represents the Haida Bear Mother Story. The sculpture on top represents the union of the supernatural bear and human. The frog feet of the box represent the supernatural connection between man and animal. The box including the frogs on the base is about 4 1/4 inches or close to 11 centimeters long, 5 1/4 inches or close to 13 1/2 centimeters wide and about 6 1/4 or 16 centimeters high. The top is a little over 3 1/4 inches or 8 1/2 centimeters long and a little over 4 1/4 inches or 11 centimeters wide. The whole carving weighs a little over 1.3 kilos or close to 3 pounds. The price includes shipping to the USA and Canada.
