Kura Lua Moon by Robin Rorick

Categories: Eligible for Free Shipping, Native American Limited Edition Prints, Native Prints, Native Prints, New Acquisitions

Kura Lua Moon by the Haida Native Artist Robin Rorick is an Artist Proof print or serigraph with an edition of 11 APs. The print is 19 inches x 15 inches in size and it is signed and numbered in original.

This design represents the artist's daughter, Kura Lua (Red Moon), who was born on the summer solstice. The figure in the moon is a robin. The designs that surround the moon are grizzly bear claws. Robin chose to use the grizzly bear claws because both his wife's Hesquiaht (Nuu chah nulth) family and his own Haida family own the grizzly bear crest. Animal crests are very important in both Haida and Hesquiat cultures. On Kura's maternal side, the grizzly bear is a protector of the women in the family.
